Not by magically shattering, but somehow something always goes wrong whenever you touch a piece of technology causing it to break, and costing you lots of money. Eventually, the world grows more technology based and with more and more inventions leaving your now outdated phone in the dust, you're left without technology except for your old phone, and with no friends trusting you with their technology, while you have an old unbreakable phone with boring apps, there are no more servers to download more on, and no more games that are even a sliver of interesting.
