I was banned for 10 minutes for aborting 1 game

If someone is 100 or 200 points better than you that is really not such a big difference - I quite often managed to win against the opponent in such cases (if the opponent made a mistake, and I noticed it + had luck), I also lost against people who have much fewer points than I when I made a silly mistake (or more). Just try - you will see that you will win some of these games, too.

I would be able to understand your position if we were speaking about a difference >500.

I have played a lot of games with people at those level. Yes I win one or two, but lose 98%. No fun and no learning
I really don’t care if someone aborts a game. I just go to the next one.

Again what possible difference does it make to Lichess if I choose whom I want to play?

It's in every member's interest, and therefore in the site management's interest, that we all have a pleasant experience here.

Now, like you, I just go on to the next one if my opponent aborts the game. But suppose it happened much more often than it does. We would then be spending lots of our time waiting for someone to be paired with us who then plays the game instead of aborting. The experience would be disconcerting and our time would be wasted.

That's a hypothetical scenario which doesn't occur here. But it would be the norm if aborting games was not frowned on by the site.

If I was the one who decide, I would have banned you for days. The pairing system is good and fair, you play against better and weaker opponents the same way. It's disrepectful to abort for that reason, you wasting people's time just for your own convenience.

And even with 200 points difference, you still have a chance to win, and if not, a very good way to learn chess.

It may not be fun, but you are the one choosing not to learn from the games. That's on you.

If you want to avoid certain categories of player then simply avoid them with one of the many filtering tools. If you instead choose to waste everyone's time by accepting & aborting many games lichess will keep banning you until the point gets through and eventually it will.

It's got to make some difference if Lichess developed an entire system to deal with your behavior.
