Why are some anonymous able to type in chat??

There have been multiple instances now when an anonymous player chooses to curse at me and type insults in the chat, but I cannot reply anything other than the five buttons that say Good Game, Well Played, etc.

How does that work? Why are some people able to chat as anonymous but others aren't? What criteria do you use to suggest whether someone can type in the chat?

+1, that has to be solved. Didn't encounter this myself, but it's really unfair when someone insults you and you cannot show them their place.

That should be addressed.

not much interest

The lichess Android app still lets me type in chat while playing anonymously so most probably they were app users
