Maia9 BOT First Impression

Playing Maia9 BOT on Lichess

I like playing Maia9 on Lichess. I like Maia9 because it is truly more human-like than playing against the Lichess computer (Stockfish 16) at prescribed ELO ratings. Today, I beat Maia9 because it made a BIG blunder on the 23rd move of the game. (see blog link below for game) That's fine, Maia9 has kicked my butt plenty of times. Besides, beating Maia9 keeps me coming back..ha.

Maia Chess 1900
Maia is a human-like neural network chess engine. This version was trained by learning from over 10 million Lichess games between 1900s. Maia Chess is an ongoing research project aiming to make a more human-friendly, useful, and fun chess AI. For more information go to maiachess.com. You can also play @maia1 and @maia5. Developed by @ashtonanderson, @sidsen and @reidmcy.

Here's an update of Maia9 performance for the last year. It's been kicking my butt lately (as of Feb 7, 2024). The last two games I lost, Maia9 played with 95% accuracy and an average 20 Centipawn Loss, which is outstanding:
