Feature Suggestion: Handshake in arena

Fluff. Please don't implement.

Players can show respect by being respectful.
i like it!!! Civility -- even in virtual form -- is a good idea
Hey guys I appreciate all the feedback.
The button was intended to give your tournament opponent a little "Hey man, good game and good luck. I took the effort to -virtual- handshake!" I noticed in non-tournament games there are "hi, gl, hf, u2" text you can click. I like that, but noticed it was missing in tournament games.
The button can even be made cute or say something positive like "have a nice day!!" or "let's fight!" as a kind of moral boost. There is a lot of potential here for something cool. Please!
I don’t understand why you would want to bring back some kind of chat into the tournament games if this feature has been explicitly turned off.
The sentiment is fine as far as sentiment goes...which isn't very far.

Two problematic examples. Perhaps the most famous case in chess involves Kramnik's refusal to shake Topalov's hand after the events of Toiletgate. The ritual of a civil handshake existed prior to the actual uncivil act of accusing another player of cheating with very speculative evidence, yet did nothing to prevent unpleasantness.

A personal example comes from when I was playing a different game and would often say "gg" at the conclusion (win or lose). Coming from a chess culture this seemed perfectly normal behavior, but in this arena it was interpreted by a significant percentage of players as a slight. While I could have argued my intentions with each player who took undue offense I instead jettisoned the artifice.

Currently, Lichess has a playing environment with very little crap in the way of taunting and accusatory nonsense that pervades other sites, which I attribute in part to the no nonsense approach on the part of the designers to create a clean, efficient, playing environment.

If you want civility, be civil. You don't need a special emoji.
The formality of the above comment makes me think the complaint was made as an April fool's joke.
