Stockfish vs Chessmaster

Chessmaster is a program based on Bobby Fischers games I believe, and if im not mistaken it is the origin of the current stockfish

anyway its likely above 3100 cuz had it not been for a silly blunder due to time shortage, it was leading by a pawn against SF.

Afaik CM hasnt been a top program for a long time.
Its still strong and good for learning though.
The last CM came out long ago too.
Stockfish is being worked on daily and its the 1st or 2nd strongest out there.

Oh yes and one more thing
The ratings on Chessmaster itself are a lot higher than they really are (at least for the top personalities).
If Chessmaster says its 3000-3100 its likely 200 or more points lower compared to FIDE.

Even older versions of Fritz can beat the "newest" CM.

How much time/move or depth for both sides? What hardware were this game have been played on?

The engine behind the chessmaster series was de Konings "The King", which was a good program at its time and is of course still devastating against humans.
But there is no connection to SF at all, and there is also no doubt that SF is a lot stronger.

You can see the king with a rating of about 2600 in this pool, while SF is almost at the top with 3360. (there are some newer and stronger development versions, which would make it about 3400).

CM has excellent training materials, but it isn't the world's strongest engine. I'd recommend CM to most players, and other software to competitive tournament players.

although the rating is shown much higher than 2600 for some reason.

Chessmaster isn't compatible with iPhone unfortunately. Which program (compat with iPhone) would you recommend for Training at midlevel (elo 1700)?

A lot of people run many tests for Chessmaster engine. CM has about 2620 ELO. SF, Komodo and other strong engines are able to crush CM very easily.

CM has also problems with Shredder weaker personalities. CM can't beat weaker Shredder personalities (2550 - 2600 ELO).
