FM Maurice Schippers

Hi,
I am FM Maurice Schippers. I am 27 years old and together with my wife, WGM Anna Warakomska we are the Chess School Schippers. I have a bachelor in history at the University in Groningen (The Netherlands) where I currently live with my wife and son. I have played chess since I was 5 winning many titled in my youth. Later I shifted to coaching resulting in our own chess school. A dream coming true! I have played chess since for as long as I can remember. I was five years old when I first went to the chess club. I have won many tournaments in the youth. I became national champion once (U12) and I have played one European Championship in 2003, Budva. I like to play several tournaments per year. I played in Barcelona (Spain), Suwalki (Poland) but mostly tournaments in The Netherlands.

I have been giving classes since I was 16 year old beginning as a teacher for kids in my local club in Almelo. When I moved to Groningen for studies I was a teacher in the club, both for children and adults. Moreover, for two years I tought chess in a school. I am giving private classes for several years now.

I would say that tactics is my main skill. I am able to calculate very quickly. I can also easily play blindfold because I have a very good memory and visualisation. My positional understanding in the game is also quite good. I can help you in any aspect of the game!

Your games will always be the foundation of the classes. We learn the most from your mistakes and what you did well. From there on I will give additional material. That can be tactics, improving positional understanding, openings or endgame strategy. I always prepare thoroughly and I give my students the best I can.
